Steve Wheeler
Chief Risk Officer
Steve was named CRO of Lendmark Financial Services in January 2016.
In this role, Steve oversees the implementation and adherence to the risk management framework and credit strategy of Lendmark. In this role, he has oversight to Enterprise Risk Management, Internal Audit, Compliance, Centralized Servicing and Centralized Underwriting, and Credit Analytics. Part of his responsibilities also entail oversight of establishing policies and procedures, credit and loan servicing requirements, credit reporting and credit analytics, to make certain Lendmark maintains a well-defined risk appetite and the necessary controls and measures in place to ensure the company operates within it.
With over 25 years of proven experience in the financial services industry, Steve has an extensive background in consumer finance risk management and compliance. He also is known for his expertise in operational risk management, securitization, and funding strategy.
Prior to joining Lendmark, Steve served as Chief Risk Officer at OneMain Financial (formerly CitiFinancial).
Steve holds a Bachelor of Arts in American Legal and Constitutional History from the University of Minnesota, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Steve is also a proud Veteran who served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserves.
